could you please tell us in which folder of a miror you have downloaded
your iso?
if I go in the .../MandrivaLinux/official/iso/2006.0/i586/ I can find a
"real" mandriva 2006.0 version
for exemple in
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/iso/2006.0/i586/
you can find the following files for mandriva 2006.0 :

After installation Mandriva was upgrading itself from 2006.0 Cooker to
2006.1 Cooker, although my Target was 2006.0 (for my Mandriva
Evaluations)... To arrive at my intended destination I followed Ben's
Instructions on using LinuxForDummies to generate an urpmi.cfg
appropriate to my objectives:

Was it wrong of me to expect the 2006.0 ISO Images to be Official
instead of Cooker and therefore require manual tweaking of URPMI to
that end??? Or is this just a "Feature" of dealing with the Free
Downloadable versions of Mandriva???
That said once I had upgraded 2006.0 Cooker to 2006.0 Official I was
pleased with the results, especially the intuitive nature of its
Control Center...
