hello,

could you please tell us in which folder of a miror you have downloaded your iso?

if I go in the .../MandrivaLinux/official/iso/2006.0/i586/ I can find a "real" mandriva 2006.0 version

I used the following Folder:
                 /pub/mandrake/official/iso/2006.0/i586/

for exemple in ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/iso/2006.0/i586/

From GATECH's FTP Server:
  ftp://ftp.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/

you can find the following files for mandriva 2006.0 :
Mandriva-Linux-Free-2006-CD.i586.idx 79 KB 13.11.2005 17:30:00
Mandriva-Linux-Free-2006-CD.i586.md5.asc 1 KB 13.11.2005 17:30:00

Who's MD5SUMs for the 3 CD ISO Images were as follows

Mandriva-Linux-Free-2006-CD1.i586.iso 712774 KB 13.11.2005 17:32:00

When I check the VERSION File on CD1 within the above ISO Image it reads as follows:

   Mandriva Linux 2006.0 cooker-Download-i586- 20050927 8:00

Mandriva-Linux-Free-2006-CD2.i586.iso 712540 KB 13.11.2005 17:33:00
Mandriva-Linux-Free-2006-CD3.i586.iso 712882 KB 13.11.2005 17:33:00
<ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/iso/2006.0/i586/Mandriva-Linux-Free-2006-CD.i586.idx>....

But if I compare that with the VERSION File found within GATECH's own FTP Tree:

   ftp://ftp.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/mandrake/official/2006.0/i586/VERSION

It reads as follows:

   Mandriva Linux 2006.0 Official-i586-Download 20051010 08:35

When I compared a few of the MD5SUMs found on other Mirrors they match the above, as do the Time Stamps of their "Official" 2006.0 ISO Images (November 13th, 2005)... On the surface (without downloading additional ISO Images), I conclude they are all 2006.0 Cooker ISO Images (I maybe wrong on this point)???

Initially when I ran "Mandriva Update" it started with 10.2 and jumped directly to 2006.1 Cooker, which was a lot of "extra" downloading especially since all I really wanted was Official 2006.0 for my Evaluations!!!

Mandriva Users:

The Free 2006.0 ISO Images on all the Mirror Sites all appear to be a late Cooker:

   Mandriva Linux 2006.0 cooker-Download-i586- 20050927 8:00

Although the version within the FTP Trees is the Official Release:

   Mandriva Linux 2006.0 Official-i586-Download 20051010 08:35

After installation Mandriva was upgrading itself from 2006.0 Cooker to 2006.1 Cooker, although my Target was 2006.0 (for my Mandriva Evaluations)... To arrive at my intended destination I followed Ben's Instructions on using LinuxForDummies to generate an urpmi.cfg appropriate to my objectives:

   http://archives.mandrivalinux.com/newbie/2006-02/msg00553.php

Was it wrong of me to expect the 2006.0 ISO Images to be Official instead of Cooker and therefore require manual tweaking of URPMI to that end??? Or is this just a "Feature" of dealing with the Free Downloadable versions of Mandriva???

That said once I had upgraded 2006.0 Cooker to 2006.0 Official I was pleased with the results, especially the intuitive nature of its Control Center...
