My windows NTFS drive always comes up read-only. I've tried
changing the fstab entry to be rw umounted and remounted, but
it is still read-only. Does anyone know why this is, and if it
possible to mount it read-write?

It recently became possible to write to NTFS partitions with
libntfs and fuse. Mandriva RPMs are available, including the
most recent versions of both which are in cooker. I haven't
tried them yet.

For Knoppix fans out there, Knoppix 5 will/does feature
transparent read/write access to NTFS partitions. I'm
downloading the DVD now--can't wait to try it.
