Mine says the same thing, I am not sure you can solve it. May not be
parse-able from the bios ? ... just guessing tho'

are you sure uname -a gave you the right output ?
$ uname -a
Linux peace 2.6.12-21mdk #1 Wed Mar 15 13:15:23 MST 2006 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 
2800+ unknown GNU/Linux

see *unknown* before GNU/Linux ?
$ uname -i
unknown

so my Gigabyte board also shows unknown ..
Been like this for a few releases, since 9.2, if I remember right
