I just did (finally) a clean install of MDV2006 Free, did all the
security, bug, and normal updates. Now when I do a cold boot , or
reboot, I am dropped to a shell. I can startx from the command line.
Default runlevel is set to 5. In /etc/rc3.d there is an item: S30dm
which I assume is display manager.
Anyone recognize this problem? I couldn't find anything in the archives,
but my eyes were getting wobbly so I quit lookin'.
Oh, BTW, X started on boot-up just fine before I did the updates. I use
various mirrors including SoS.
