Sorry, that should say "In /etc/rc5.d..." not rc3.d.
Cameron, have you looked at /etc/inittab
this is where the default runlevel is set, it should show you what it
is set at and what the each value means.

I figure it was one of the updates I did, but there were so many of them
I'm getting a headache imagining finding out which one did it.
