It probably won't work, since if the file is unreadable because of
physical damage, you shouldn't be able to copy it either. Worth a try,
though. "Bad file" can cover a multitude of errors, and doesn't
necessarily mean that the file is corrupted. Have you upgraded any
libraries since the last time you installed it? Games are notoriously
subject to this kind of compatibility problem. If that is the case, then
all you can do (assuming you don't want to downgrade your system) is
either find a more recent binary of the game or compile from source code
(if the source is available).
