Have you tried PCLinuxOS lately? Mandriva-based, pre-configured for a
lot of things that you'd normally have to do by hand (browser plugins,
3D video, good printer & USB stuff, oodles of wireless stuff and a
really good forum for support), installation of a full OS in 20
minutes or less, and the list goes on.

Have a look. It's based on a single LiveCD ISO which you can boot
directly (without installing) and take for a test drive, which also
allows you to install drivers on the fly. Then if it works for you,
run the installer directly from the desktop.

Thanks for the thought DL. I have looked at PCLOS and like it heaps ~
but as to hdd'ing it ~ I don't get choices [re partitioning] like I do
with most others. That's why I'm still looking at Mandriva ~ and this
time actually buying it. Just not encouraged by what I read is all.
Then, of course, it might well be that only the neg stuff is getting
through at present. So I'm hoping more positive feedback, such as you
have shared, will make it back to me.
