Maybe I have to update the KDE libraries for this. I'll give that a go

Alas... After updating the libraries digikam starts, but so far no fun.
I tried the A520 PTP mode and also A60 PTP mode.
The problem may be somewhere else though. This is what I find in syslog:
Aug 10 13:04:29 nwyfre kernel: usb 5-4: new high speed USB device using
ehci_hcd and address 16
Aug 10 13:04:29 nwyfre kernel: usb 5-4: device descriptor read/all,
error -71
Aug 10 13:04:29 nwyfre kernel: usb 5-4: new high speed USB device using
ehci_hcd and address 17
And beyond that it is a puzzle. Why would the kernel address two
devices? (Or do I interpret this wrongly?)

Paul, Your camera should have a 'Play' button or sliding switch on it.
It will most likely use the international symbol for 'Play' - often a
triangular arrow pointing to the right.
Make sure that you slide that switch into 'Play' mode and you should be
able to re-scan for your camera in GPhoto, Digikam or Gwenview. They
should find the camera right away at that point.
I've used about 11 different models of Canon cameras and each of them
worked as soon as I did that.
Haven't been following this thread, but hope that helps.
