Hi,
some versions of linux (I dont know if they do this in the current version) will detect that you have a newer version of linux in your cd/dvd drive and will ask you to upgrade or not. If you select the upgrade option, linux will perform a typical installation. It may take some time so be very very patient as it may take time to install and extract everything.

But if you want to do a more customized install, then i would google the instructions for upgrading
