So if I have this right, your modem is plugged into the SMC, and the
Netgear is plugged into the SMC and being used as a switch? If so, and
you have computers plugged into the Netgear that can connect to the
Internet, then I'd say that you're good to go with wireless.

Many wireless device drivers don't support WPA, but WEP should be all
good, so all you need is a supported wireless card for a test PC and the
time to set it up.
