The permissions apparently were different on my CD (444) than on
the DVD (644). When I copied the boot.iso from the Mandriva DVD,
I didn't notice that. I fixed them this time.

The wiki address has changed and when I went to the new wiki (at
mdv.vmlinuz.ca instead of at mandriva.vmlinuz.ca), I couldn't
figure it out. Don't know why because (in hindsight) it wasn't
all that different. Once I went to the old wiki (your link
above), I compared the two and easily found my way around the new
one. So you solved two problems for me -- finding info on making
a bootable CD and figuring out the new wiki.

Following the directions, I burned the boot.iso (with the correct
permissions this time) to the CD. It worked perfectly. Mandriva
2006 correctly identified the external combined CD/DVDRW drive
and was able to install from the DVD.

Thanks,
