Ya, like they say '99% of problems on Linux are problems with permissions'.
That always bites me on the ass.
I can beat that one hands down, tho.
Spent 4 hours trying to diagnose a problem with my DVD-R drive. Started gettin'
kinda funky, as time wore on if I just inserted a disc in the drive the whole
system would lock solid. Googled kernel errors, tried to decipher German
forums, you name it.
Finally it got to the point where it wasn't even being detected by the BIOS.
Was about to start going to look for a new drive, cursing LG, and myself for
buying one.
That's when it hit me. Check the cable. Cable was fine but...yep, the power
connector was just slightly loose. That was it.
Hardware first. Software second. Someone please drill that into my head.
