Nice thing is, the tool chain is already pre-built and compiled 
Therefore I can bork it and blame the build 8-)
But in this case it was a corrupt rpm package download ... thankfully
As you know Joe, it depends on the corruption, but you can download
the culprit rpm's  and reinstall using the *force*;
# rpm -i --force *.rpm

Unless it's configuration files, you can use RCS for this ... for
home use anyway, it's simpler. (since CVS/SVN may be overblown for
home use. Not sure about git though.)
