I did save quite a bit of stuff from the sites. htop seems to include buffers and cache. For example, htop now shows 8 instances/PIDs of FF, with about equal usage, and top only shows one. Opera always shows only one PID in htop. The htop numbers grow in FF over time, also suggesting buffers and cache. Back when I was trying to see what was causing FF to get flakey, I noticed that it always started when htop reported FF using essentially all the available memory, eventually including swap. When I was running FF, it typically had 6-12 windows open, each with perhaps 15 or so tabs. Under these conditions, it might take a week or so for FF to become unstable. It seemed to occur MUCH faster if I saved lots of things from sites or did lots of downloading [again buffers and cache??]. I no longer run FF continuously, but shut it down frequently. This seems to 'fix' the ever-growing-usage problem. I can run Opera forever, with a gazillion windows and tabs open, save lots of stuff, and never use much resources. :-) -- rikona mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ____________________________________________________ Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva?
