Hello Neill. Thanks for your reply. Some time ago, I tried Gnome in 2006 and could set the clock to the 12 hour system by right clicking on 'preferences'. No problems. I have also tried Ubuntu and could get the 12 hour system with 'preferences'. So it seems to be a 2007 problem/bug - unless I am missing something!
