Well, you might be having the same problem that I have.  For some reason, 
trying to use URPMI with the club mirrors when I wanted to use wget for 
downloads failed every time.  When I switch to using curl to download, it 
works.  So, you might consider switching your global settings to use curl, 
then try setting up the club mirrors again.  If that works, then you know 
why.  And, you have a workaround.

Not the best possible solution, but it does appear that the club mirrors may 
have issues with wget based on my experience with them.
