Thanks Grumpy_Penguin - Just changing to GRUB GUI solved it must have been something with LiLO! This is the unregistered 2007 so may not be able to do the sources until I register the OS. Well with the boot problem out of the way I still have one more issue....2007 is not seeing my Motorola HSP 56 modem that I use for XP. Any recommendations on a Linux compatible modem hopefully available at Wal-Mart as we do not have a computer store in town. I am the computer repair service here and I don't have an inventory of new parts LOL I could setup another XP machine with a proxy server but that seems like a lot of extra work. I appreciate your wisdom and quick help; Thank You! Johnny

If you are new you should set up your urpmi sources
go to this site
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org
open a terminal go to root then set up your sources and cut and paste into your root terminal [better do it late at night as the first time is a doozy] this will give you all the fixes and upgrades

One more note for those in the know.....I tried to look at the
archives first but got the following message.....

    Module not found

The requested module linux could not be found.

Possible reasons for this are:

    * The module name was misspelled, try changing the URL.
    * The module does not exist on this site.
    * This site uses siteaccess matching in the URL and you didn't
supply one, try inserting a siteaccess name before the module in
      the URL .

Hello I am new to the group. I am a newbe to Mandriva 2007. I
downloaded Mandriva one 2007 and installed it on my computer as a try
before buy. I like the OS but am having a small problem....I have a
dual boot system Windows XP Professional and Mandriva 2007 and After
2/3 boots from one system to another I get a screen on the next boot
that looks like this ----

L 070707070707070707... the 07 is about about twenty times.

I think it may have something to do with the boot loader because when
I boot from the Mandriva CD and reinstall Mandriva I am okay for
again a few more boots (I can also then boot into XP which is still
intact). Mandriva is on a 40G HDD by itself and XP on a 80G HDD). I
either need help on how to resolve this, or how to uninstall Mandriva
as this is on my work computer and all the books are on XP. I
appreciate the help Johnny Shepherd Cortez, Colorado Ham Operator

Lilo is the default boot loader but you can install grub instead go to
*->system--configure your computer you will be asked for your root
password enter it navigate to the section called Boot change your
boot-loader to GRUB this should cure this [no guarantee ] HTH
