You could just su root and run XFdrake in textmode. It should download,
build, and insert the kernel module for you.

Big huge emphasis on *should*. Those packages have not been consistently
successful for me at least, and the binaries from NVidia have always worked
(until now). Try the NVidia binaries first, then if all else fails, you should
just be able to 'urpmi nvidia'.

Just for kicks, when you get back to your machine, do this:

rpm -qa | grep mesa

and

ls -l /usr/lib/libGL*
