Tried the  ati-driver-installer-8.32.5-x86.x86_64.run first, did'nt work any 
better :-(

fglrxinfo gives nothing, and I have no ati controlpanel

giving up for the moment and try Charles tips about
using xorg/Mesa driver/drm module.
