I removed all the rpms that referred to Nvidia and went with the dkms version of the legacy drivers, and am still having the trouble. I can switch between the Nvidia supplied drivers and the Mandrake dkms drivers and I have the same problem in both. Here's the xorg.conf (stripped of many lines): << # File generated by XFdrake (rev 57713) # ********************************************************************** # Refer to the XF86Config man page for details about the format of # this file. # ********************************************************************** Section "Files" # Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together) # By default, Mandrake 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of # the X server to render fonts. I don't think it's AA fonts as turning off anti-aliasing doesn't have much impact on performance. It feels something like a cache problem (maybe font cache) - if I enable the menu panel tooltips (the ugly popups when you mouseover panel icons) the first one will be really slow (like 5+ seconds to display) and after the same one and others will display a lot faster. ____________________________________________________ Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva?
