I'm a newbie myself, so take all this with a huge grain of salt. I checked the xfree86 website ( http://www.xfree86.org/cardlist.html ) and they listed only an S3 Savage 3D as being supported with xfree86-3.3.6, which according to the Debian website ( http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/release-notes/ch-whats-new.en.html ) is the version of xfree86 you have. Sorry. Hope I'm wrong about this. You can upgrade to the xfree86-4.1.0 version, the latest one, by following the instructions given on that website's location. I haven't tried this myself yet, but it's my next project.
