Hello all,
I've run XFree86 a few times in the past, but I guess in this case I
just can't make it work (or I have something misconfigured, which is very
possible).

My system is setup as follows:
NVidia GeForce MX with 32MB RAM (AGP)
        Adaptec SCSI controller
Sound Blaster Live (full package, minus front panel)
        384 MB system RAM (PC133)
        Intel Celeron 800 MHz

    I have installed XFree86 4.1.0 from a downloaded installation
(downloaded all files as required) using the installation script given
(Xinstall.sh). Upon going through the xf86config script for the setup
itself, I attempt to run startx but am `greeted` with the following:

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages.
This can be found in the log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log".

End Log------------------------------------------------

Upon taking a look at the device it mentioned, I noticed it was set to:

crw------- 1 root wheel 2, 14 Sep 3 15:16 io

Do I need to change the permissions on this entry to make this work? And if
so, what permissions should I have it set to?

If anyone has any input, it would be so greatly appreciated, as I'm pulling
my hair out. I am SERIOUSLY wanting to get rid of Micro$oft Windowz for a
huge number of reasons.

Thank you VERY much in advanced :)
