When I try to run ethereal, I open a terminal and su. Then I type "ethereal". I get a message that the server won't allow me to do this. Something about xauth and MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE. Everything I have read about how to do this refers to someone trying to connect as a remote user. All I want to do is to run ethereal on my one darn machine. I did look at the xauth man page. I can't figure out what to do from that source. Can someone give me step-by-step instructions? 1. I have xfree-4 2. I use xdm, not startx 3. Whatever action I take, do I have to do this every time I log on, or can I somehow placate xauth by updating some file once? ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.amexmail.com/?A=1 _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
