that's probably selecting the old all-in-wonder card (non-radeon chipset),
and to use radeon cards well (at least the dual-headed ve), you need to
upgrade to the cvs version of xfree86 4.1.0, and linux kernel 2.4.8 (or
higher). i remember 4.0.3 working on my radeon somewhat, but only on one
head. you need to make sure at least that you are selecting a radeon card
when you set up xfree86 (try this before going upgrading xfree86 and linux
kernel, unless you are familiar with these processes).
