Hi there,
On my Mandrake 8.0, I just have installed Xfree86 4.1.0 and Kde2.2.
Only problem that I have is that I can't startup any of those.When I do 'X'
or 'startx' command everything scrolls over screen like it will startup and
then screen goes blank and that's it. Can't kill it anyhow but I have too
restart my system. When I do 'startkde' I do get following on my screen:
xsetroot: unable to open display ''
xmodmap: unable to open display ''
xmodmap: unable to open display ''
xset: unable to open display ""
ksplash: cannot connect to X server
Aborting. $DISPLAY is not set.
Aborting. $DISPLAY is not set.
ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpected.
ksmserver: cannot connect to X server
connect() failed: : No such file or directory
Does anybody know what am I doing wrong and what should I do to fix that.
Is there any documentation how to configure Xfree86 4.1.0 and what is the
stratup sequence of it. Like what files it uses to start and configure X.
