Hi,
I'm highly confused by this 'glx' and 'dri' and what way
one should go. Unfortunately, there seems to be nothing out there
in the web, that allows to determine quickly what actions
to take in order to get the 3D stuff installed.
Using a GeForce2, I'm getting a 'signal 11' error with the
appropriate driver from NVIDIA. The VANTA chipset equally does
make trouble when enabling 3D hardware acceleration. My dearest
notebook with an ati rage mobility does not allow me to
start the 3d acceleration. I really read some HOWTO's and
webpages, but still I can't get it to run.
One single README file telling something like "There's GLX from Utah
and DRI which is more modern but not so stable ... these graphic cards
should use DRI ...." would help a whole lot further.
I mean the structure of the new XFree86 looks very clear,
but still these modules and settings can run someone nuts.
Best Regards,
Frank Schaefer
