I compiled XFree86 4.1.0 on Debian Linux with glibc22 and it compiled, but "make install" failed with a error when it invoked ld with the -lz option., giving "lz not found" error. The install notes with X11 state that GNU as and ld are not supported. What is the workaround where the default linker and assembler are GNU ld and as?
