I successfully ran "make World" on a Debian Linux box with glibc22. "make
install" produced a problem when it invoked "ld" with -lz (and many other)
options, the compiler reported an "lz not found" error and stopped. The
install file states that GNU ld and as are not compatible with XFree86
4.1.0. So, since they are the default linker and assembler for Debian, what
is the workaround?

Thanks,

Bud Roth
