XFree86 4.1.0's vesa driver is not the same as fbdev. XF86_FBDev is a 3.3.6 thing. There's also an fbdev driver for 4.x, but I've never gotten it to work (but the vesa driver does work well enough...)

The framebuffer now works, I am trying to use Xfree86_FBDev but it is having problems. The error being produced is: open_framebuffer: failed to open /dev/fb0 (No such device) Even though /dev/fb0 definately does exist. Is the vesa driver the same thing as FBDev? I have enclosed my XF86Config-4 file, which I altered myself according to the directions of the framebuffer howto.
