Hi, Possibly this does not belong fully in this thread, but the information could be helpful there too... I upgraded my kernel to 2.4.9 some weeks ago, then found out that having RH 7.1 I had probably used gcc2.96 which seems to be a NO-NO... On another PC I installed Roswell, it still has gcc 2.96 on it! trying to downgrade to 2.95.3 (this was a few weeks ago...) I realised it also had to be compiled (the chicken / egg problem) someone on this list told me I could compile it with 2.96 and then use it, another source mentionned that RH had not managed to compile their kernel with 2.96 and had included in the distribution a kgcc which is an older compiler (??!!??) and which one should use... can you make some light on the matter?
