Linux is more than just X.
And this is a X Mailing List.
Nevertheless, you have to get into a stand alone shell (dunno Debian, but
with RedHat you have rescue discs, and with SuSE you have a rescue shell,
so it's basically all the same), then mount your root FS, and then start
lilo with the option (I don't know it out of memory) to point to a
different config file.
For example if you mounted your Linux root to /mnt use lilo -x
/mnt/etc/lilo.conf (where -x is to be replaced through the config-file
switch).
Sorry for not knowing the switch, but I only have a few NetBSD and OpenVMS
boxes available at the moment.
But you can certainly figure it out with man lilo.
