Folks -

I'm trying to get XFree86 v3.3.6 (on RedHat 6.2) to run with an NEC 800x600 flat
panel. The hardware is known good, because all the Linux boot text is beautifully
crisp. But when I try "X -ac", I get the message:

(--) SVGA: mode 800x600: horizontal sync out of range (sync - display should
be between 8 and 24)

Can anyone clarify this? The modeline I'm using is:

        "800x600" 39.06 800 824 896 1024 600 601 603 625

(taken more-or-less directly from NEC's datasheet).

I can provide more detail on request (X log, full XF86Config, hardware details, ...)
but wanted to keep this initial post short.
