Hello, I have a laptop running at 800x600 8bpp. When I was running KDE, the colors of images (although a bit dithered) were OK. <More specifically, when I was using KDM, vs XDM, I had already moved to using IceWM vs KDEwm>
I have since switched completely away from KDE (pentium 133....) and am using XDM w/ IceWM. Now, images in Netscape or Opera are displayed horribly. Note: The GIMP does a much better job of displaying images, but when I'm in a GIMP window, the colors of other windows goes "wacky". I assume this means that GIMP is using a colormap (is that the right term?) specialized for photos, while Netscape/Opera are using the system's "default" colormap? If so, apparently when I was running KDM, it "pre-loaded" a "better" default colormap. Does anybody have any ideas on how to use whatever default colormap KDM sets up without actually running KDM?
