This is Cygwin/Xfree86 ... http://xfree86.cygwin.com/ Maybe I emailed the 
wrong user group so sorry about that, go on, have a little moan... feel 
better? OK. Well thanks for your reply. I know it'll fix the problem if I 
change permissions to root but you don't seem to be able to do this on 
Cygwin...
