I've been stuck for 3 weeks now trying to
configure XFree86 video drivers with this software:
     Peanut-Linux 9.0, Kernel 2.4.14, XFree 4.1.0:
correctly detects S3 Trio32 onboard video and installs
VESA driver. When Xwindows starts screen displays
multiple overlapping images. The command: 'xf86cfg'
displays 5 overlapped copies of the XFree86 setup
window and the computer freezes (can not be restarted
by Ctl-Alt-Del).
Disabled the S3 video and installed other
Trident, Cirrus and ATI cards. Only the ATI WonderXL
configures with xf86cfg command and produces normal
Enlightenment windows but it produces multiple mouse
cursors. Each time I move the mouse it leaves the old
cursor and starts a new one- by the time that I have a
few dozen mice the computer is running really, really
slowly. Computer runs Win98 and Newdeal software
properly at all normal resolutions and passes ATI
video test program. Apparently driver XFree86_SVGA is
recommended but it doesn't seem to be included with
XFree 4.1.0.
  Thank you,
     Frank Ross
