Hello, has anybody had any success running two X servers, for two VGA cards in one computer, simultaneously? (I know someone has, but I haven't and I don't know what the preconditions are.)
I know about Xinerama but that's not what I want. I would like two X servers so that each can have a different mouse, and perhaps even a different keyboard (there's a patched server somewhere on the net that should allow this, but as I said, I've had no success). Every time I tried, either the X server that was started first froze in the moment the other started, or the two servers mixed their output on one screen. I tried with various ATI and S3 cards, AGP&PCI (in either order) or just 2xPCI, but the result was the same. (Of course, I used BusID in the config to distinguish the cards.) BTW, since PCI VGA's are nearly extinct, has anyone seen a mainboard with more than one AGP slot? Is there a reason why they couldn't exist? Or is this simply a dead end? Thanks for any replies.
