Odds are you don't need to use fbdev... Use XFree86 -configure to generate a
basic configuration, tweak the resulting file (you'll probably want to add
lines to load the type1, speedo and freetype modules), then copy it as
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4

Subject: [Newbie]XFree86 Config on Debian and PB G3

 Hey all,

I feel pretty dumb but I can't get X windows to run for the life of me
under Debian 2.2rev3. I am running V. 4.1.0 of the X server. I can't seem to
get X to start up at all after updating, and I also can't seem to get the
trackpad to work.

 I get the error starting X ...
   Data Incomplete in file "/etc/X11/XF86Config"
Device Section "Linux Fram Buffer Device" must have a driver line.
(EE) Problems parsing the config file
(EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile()

Now I tried to run XFree86 -configure but that dies with an error...
'Caught signal 11. Server aborting' and about a hundred Symbol errors.

Now I know that I have to add a driver line for the X error...but, how?
Any chance the config file could work for my setup? And I would also really
appreciate some help getting my mouse to work. Right now I am using
     Protocol "IMPS/2"
     Device "/dev/mouse"

Thanks soo much for the help!

   Terry.
