Hi,
a new way of trying to do it I guess...
I would rather:
1. check whether you have both XF86Config and
XF86Config-4 if so and if you are using 4.x.x then it
is XF86Config-4 which is being used by X, any changes
in XF86Config won't achieve very much.
2. in case you specified more than one resolution in
you configuration you can try to switch between them
with Ctrl Alt +(from the numeric pad) to increase it
and Ctrl Alt -(from the numeric pad) to decrease it.
3. If nothing happens, or if you are not satisfied
with the results then hack your XF86Config[-4]
go to the section screen
check whether you are happy with DefaultDepth (I set
it to 16 acceleration might not work with 24) then
check whether the Subsection "Display" which has the
same Depth has the right resolution in the Modes line
just put one resolution to start with: the one you
like.
Check that no other Subsection "Display" (if there are
any) has the same Depth.
Hope that helps...
Cheers
Lionel
