Hi. I have an AIW Radeon, and it's said that to get TV in/out working
properly, one step of the process is to recompile X from source. So,
I did, and it makes properly, but it segfaults right away. The first
time I tried this, I went through site.def and defined a bunch of stuff
that was relevant to my system (HasKatmaiSupport, etc.) and the binaries
segfaulted. This time I installed clean from source without touching
site.def, and it segfaulted in the same place, right when it usually
would start loading modules. The last thing in the logs is "loading
bitmap" ...

Below is a copy of my XFree86.0.log for my latest attempt. Does this
failure to load APM have anything to do with it, perhaps? What is APM,
anyway? <_<

FYI: I'm using the latest kernel sources (2.4.12), gcc 2.95.3 and
recent GNU binutils (are we really not supposed to use these under
Linux? What should I do instead if so?), most recent version of
libc (2.2.some), and the precompiled X binaries work, so it pretty
much has to be something off in the build process.

I'd really like to get my card working under X (accel works fine with
the Linux precompiled binaries, but no TV in/out) because I'd like to
stop using Windows ... any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Matt

The -bpp option is no longer supported.
Use -depth to set the color depth, and use -fbbpp if you really
need to force a non-default framebuffer (hardware) pixel format.
