I am running 4.x.x and do have a XF86Config-file. I do not have a XF86Config-4-file. I have tried (often enough for one to tire of it) to use the VESA-driver but it still doesn�t work. I have also tried different settings such as "ShadowFB" and so on. It finds and loads the VESA driver/module and for a moment of a second it tries to start X, I can almost see it, but then it crashes with the message:
X connection to :0.0 broken If I try to do the automatic configuration with: XFree86 -configure I get the message: Fatal server error: XFree86 has found a valid card configuration. Unfortunately the appropriate data has not been added to xf86PciInfo.h.
