[Newbie]Help on this plz (Linmodem related)

I changed the Makefile and recompiled. I also made sure I was logging in as
root to the right kernel. I again tried to install the ltmodem rpm but it
said "Failed dependencies: kernel = 2.4.9-12 needed". I typed uname -a just
to make sure and I did have the correct kernel version. So right now I'm
lost for answers.
