Carl this is where I am at, maybe you might have some suggestions as to what to do:

I have no /usr/X11R6.* or /etc/X11 files/directories on my system. I am basically 
running on command-line.

Is there something that you can suggest. Do you think the binary distro. would work? 
But from what I have read if one uses the binary distro. then when it comes time to 
update the system, it is only possible with a "true X11 and XFree86 tree" <I guess 
that a binary is not one of those>.
