I have had trouble with my mail delivery, but the only suggestion I have received to date is to include a mouse even though it will not be used. While this is fine for 1-5 installations, it becomes very bothersome for a product, not only does it look unprofessional to have a mouse stuck in my electrical cabinet, as well as introducing a very strange failure mode (try saying this to your customer: "I understand that the keyboard isn't working, just replace the mouse somebody stole and then reboot").
My finial statement is this: That $3 el cheapo mouse costs more like $40 - $500 in a low volume production environment when you have to handle and stock, and every time you go to the computer store you need to find a new model since the last style you bought is "soo last week" </rant> Please help Blaine Lee Blaine Lee wrote: > I expect that this has a simple fix, but I have been unable to find it > in the documentation, nor have I stumbled over it with my fiddling. > > I am using XFree86 version 3.3.6, Debian (Linux) 2.1, > CPU/video Cyrix MediaGX w/5530 companion chip. > Dynapro touchscreen on /dev/ttyS0 > PS/2 mouse SOMETIMES on /dev/psaux > > In normal use we will not use or even connect a mouse...But we do want > to have it available as a backup if possible. > > The problem is that when the startx command is performed when there is > not a mouse connected the keyboard does not respond AT ALL (even Num > lock and caps lock lights go out and will not respond).
