Actually in my case installeing the 4.1.99 beta from CVS helped.
try adding a line in XF86config in section "Driver" that says "Option NoAccel" -- if that helps, you'll have to wait for 4.2.0 in order to get accelerated X or leech the CVS repositiory. In Windows it runs perfectly (except the text mode, when it has just 50 Hz - i think it's something wrong with the TV out or so). However, in Mandrake Linux 8.0 (Xfree86 v. 4.0.x) or 8.1 (Xf86 ver. 4.1.x) it doesn't work in the graphics mode at all (the framebuffer (or how it is called) in the graphical installation works, but when i try the settings of Xwin system, the screen goes blank and after a few seconds the monitor turns into a power-saving state. Then, the installer goes back to the settings menu without any error messages.) With a nVidia Geforce2 MX all run perfectly. I don't know what to do. Please help me. I hoped that the Xfree86 version 4.1.x would solve my problem but it didn't. --
