I assume you have a RH 7.x installation... The server you mention is a 3.3.6 server, the driver is a 4.x.x driver it seems to me something must be amiss. check which version you are running with X -version if you are running 3.3.6 then redirect /etc/X11/X (it's a symlink) to /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 and if you still have problem hack the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (it's the one used by 4.x.x) I suspect the r128 driver should be OK Lionel --- Larry Washbrook <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Does XFree86 support the ATI All-in-Wonder 128 video board? > I think that it does because of the section "Driver status for XFree86 : > ATI" indicates that rel 4.1.0 has accelerated support for the Rage 128 > chip. > The chipset is the "ATI Rage 128 RF (AGP)" (Chip ID=0x5248). > When I install Red Hat 7.2, the program indicates that everything is > installed correctly; however, when I run startx, Gnome seems to boot up > and gives all indications that it will run (shows that it is loading a bunch of > items) then it becomes very slow and even after 5 minutes it is still loading > the task bar and desktop icons. > > Xconfigurator PCI probing finds the following: > > PCI entry : ATI !
