I've had good luck with the nVidia GeForce2 MX series. They come in
different flavors depending on the board manufacturers, 32 or 64 MB, AGP or
PCI, single or dual monitor. After getting XF86 running you have to
download their drivers from their web site. I've seen the cards for $50 or
less, depending on the features.

Subject: [Newbie]Video accelerator recommendations

Hi all,

Does anyone have a recommendation for the cheapest stable 3D accelerator
under Linux (kernel 2.4.9-13, XF86 4.1.0) ? Ideally I'd like it to be an
AGP (x2 or x4) card.

I have heard people mention ATI Radeon DDR 64Mb. Does anyone have an
opinion on this?

TIA,

Oisin.
