Hay all!
I have a problem with my Xserver. It leaks memory. My PC runns 24/7 and
during 1 week my Xserver eats all my memory and finally crashes, after
and Xrestart my memory is down again but starts to grow all over. I have
got an SMP PC, 2 PII 400 CPUs with 512MB RAM. I am willing to give out
all informations you might need to know to get close to the problem, i
am working on it pretty long now and neither google or anything helped
me so far. I did an X update and I still have the leaking problem, I am
now running:
XFree86 Version 4.1.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6510)
Release Date: 2 June 2001
Build Operating System: Linux 2.4.4 i686 [ELF]
actual Kernel i run is 2.4.16. I run X through xdm & xdm, doesnt matter
what i do X leaks.
I find this problem very difficult because i got no real hint what to
search for to gain help about the problem. My local LUG was no help so
far too. I hope someone of you here has an idea how to find out what the
problem really is.
