If Steve Brandli is using an rpm based distro then there he may be able to use rpmfind.net to locate CVS snapshot rpms for his distro. This can save some trouble in figuring out what to download and compiling it etc. There is the specific bonus for RedHat users that an UNSUPPORTED BLEEDING EDGE set of very well constructed rpms is provided WITH NO GUARANTEE at all by the largesse of Mike A. Harris at the following address (currently it is version XF86 4.1.99-1) ftp://people.redhat.com/mharris/testing/bleeding-edge/XFree86/ Please note again, that this is (like any CVS snapshot) an unsupported, experimental pre-release which MAY work for you. M.A.Harris is doing this as an individual, non-official project (or such is my understanding from his README). I think that he appreciates feedback on it.
