Hello all!
First, as I am new to the list, I'll send all subscribers a friendly
hello.
I'd like to peg you in advance for feeling free telling me if I break
any of the lists rules but I didn't follow the list a few days as
commonly recommended, as I have a serious problem in the moment.
So far, allow me the description of my problem.
System: Apple G4, Apple Pro Keyboard (USB)
Debian/GNU Linux 3.0, Kernel 2.4.17-ben0, gcc 2.95.4,
(Charset of Console and X was on iso-8859-15 if it's of interest.)
XFree86 4.1.0-11 (updated on 7.1.02 from a regular Debian-mirror).
Relevant part from XF86Config-4:
-----snip-----
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel" "macintosh"
Option "XkbLayout" "de"
EndSection
-----snap-----
After this update (from 4.1.0-9 to 4.1.0-11) my previously functioning
Alt-R didn't work any more. (The Alt-L never worked, BTW.)
I got a hint to look to the xserver-commons changelog.Debian.gz, where
in the description of the _new_ patch #052 the following is stated:
-----snip-----
patch #052: new; new XKB "alt" symbols file (used like the ctrl
symbols file) to permit swapping alt and meta keys, and making alt
keys meta keys.
-----snap-----
So I started with looking (theoretically) on xmodmap. It is very
confusing for me, as all that stuff is new for me and I don't want to
hose up my keyboard even more.
But I feel not seeing any horizon, so I wanna ask if anybody has an
idea how to start coping with that problem in the right way.
Any help and hints would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks for your patience and
have a nice day.
